The Istituto offers courses to study Italian language and culture.
Each year our calendar includes over 120 courses of all levels including grammar and culture courses.
Students choose the Italian Cultural Institute because:
- We offer a variety of courses ranging from beginner to advanced levels;
- Our courses follow the Common European Framework set by the European Council for Languages;
- We offer on demand special interest courses such as business, stylistics, grammar, conversation and culture classes;
- Our teachers are highly qualified native speakers of Italian;
- Small groups: minimum 5 and maximum 11 students per class
- Students can attend cultural events organized by the IIC;
- Certificates of attendance can be issued upon request;
- Students can benefit from various scholarships offered by language schools in Italy;
- The Institute is the only place in Toronto where the Certification of Italian Proficiency exams (Esami CILS) are held. This certification is officially recognized by the European Union.
Taught by highly qualified Italian native speakers with a particular focus on communication, courses are divided into eight levels and are offered in four-yearly sessions:
Winter session January – March
Spring session April – June
Summer session July – September
Fall session October – December
Classes are:
- once a week: 25 hours in ten weeks;
- private: flexible according to students’ special interests and needs.
The Institute can also offer the following courses:
- Grammar and Stylistics
- Conversation
- Italian for Business
- Italian History
- Italian Literature
- Italian Cinema
- Italian language and culture for children (in collaboration with Accademia dei Ragazzi)
