Set on the eve of the millennium, “Life Is Life” is a gently comedic tale of a Milanese businessman who sets his heart and fortune on building a luxury eco-friendly resort in a village on the island of Sardinia. Desperate for work, the impoverished locals are all for it, but there’s one small problem. His name is Efisio, an elderly shepherd whose family has grazed cattle on the gorgeous landscapes and beaches for generations. Efisio refuses to sell his land. The negotiations drag on as Efisio stubbornly stands firm in his position despite promises of big money and in the face of increasingly infuriated pleas from his neighbours. Will Efisio ever give in? Inspired by a true story, “Life Is Life” is directed by Riccardo Milani, whose “The Soul’s Haven” screened back in EUFF 2007.
