From acclaimed cinema and legendary screen icons to fashion, architecture, design and sport, this year’s Italian programming at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival presented by Lavazza offers an extraordinary celebration of Italy’s cultural excellence. Presented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa, the Italian Consulates in Toronto and Montreal, and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto, the festival showcases a compelling lineup of contemporary Italian films alongside special guests and unique cultural experiences.
Highlights include a rare appearance by celebrated actress Ornella Muti, one of Italy’s most beloved cinematic icons, who will attend the Canadian premiere of Giuseppe Tornatore’s Brunello: The Gracious Visionary. Audiences can also explore Fashion Frames, a stunning exhibition of costumes from Italy’s Golden Age of cinema that celebrates the enduring relationship between Italian fashion and film. The Architettura & Design program welcomes internationally acclaimed architect Maria Claudia Clemente for a conversation on contemporary design in historic Rome and features a special presentation on the legacy of Pininfarina, one of Italy’s most influential design houses. Soccer fans will have the opportunity to meet Italian football legend Antonio Cabrini as part of the festival’s Soccer Film Series. Together, these events offer a vibrant journey through the creativity, innovation, elegance and cultural influence that continue to define Italy on the world stage.
