Francesco Cavestri is an acclaimed Italian jazz pianist, composer, and producer who bridges generations in contemporary jazz. Honoured by Forbes as one of Italy’s 30 Under 30 most talented individuals, he brings a distinctive voice to the jazz scene through innovative compositions and dynamic performances. For this special concert, he will be joined by acclaimed Canadian bassist Roberto Occhipinti and drummer Austin Gembora, forming a powerful trio that blends virtuosity, creativity, and cross-cultural collaboration.

The evening’s centerpiece will be a tribute to Kenny Wheeler, the composer and trumpeter celebrated for his profoundly lyrical writing, who was born in Ontario’s capital and became a pivotal figure in bridging the jazz tradition with a distinctly European, chamber-music sensibility. Alongside this homage, the program will feature an instrumental nod to Joni Mitchell, one of Canada’s most iconic musical voices, whose artistry seamlessly traverses and unites folk, jazz, and sophisticated harmonic exploration. Throughout the concert, Cavestri’s piano becomes a vehicle for storytelling and evocative sonic landscapes, engaging in dialogue with a city whose identity has long been shaped by its rich cultural and musical diversity.
