Exploring community-led efforts in Canada and Italy addressing systemic violence against women & girls
Every three days in Italy, a woman is killed violently by a man. In Canada, it’s every 48 hours. In both countries, women are killed most often by their intimate partners, family members, and other men closest to them.
Yet, femicide and femminicidio are not isolated tragedies. They are part of a broader, systemic crisis of gender-based violence that transcends borders.
Femicide is also preventable.
Join us for an evening of knowledge-sharing, education, and cross-cultural community building as we explore community-led efforts in Canada and Italy responding to this urgent and shared emergency.
Hosted in collaboration by Aura Freedom , this event will highlight and call attention to the growing issue of femicide in both countries by examining grassroots responses alongside newly announced legislation in Canada and Italy aimed at addressing femicide and violence against women.
Together, we will reflect on how communities are mobilizing, how policy is evolving, and where gaps remain. Through dialogue with experts and shared learning, we aim to strengthen international solidarity, deepen understanding, and spark collective action to advance prevention and accountability.
This gathering is for advocates, community leaders, policymakers, academics, students, government officials, and anyone committed to advancing gender justice and confronting systemic gender-based violence.
Knowledge-sharing. Education. Cross-cultural community building. Collective action.
