The 14th edition of the ICFF and Lavazza IncluCity Festival promises an unforgettable celebration of cinema, music, design, and culture, transforming Toronto’s Distillery Historic District into a vibrant hub of international creativity. This year’s edition proudly welcomes Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon as Guest of Honour, adding star power and cinematic prestige to a program brimming with premieres, concerts, and immersive experiences. Among the festival’s signature pillars is the acclaimed Architettura & Design program, presented in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and supported by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Toronto. The 2025 edition welcomes visionary Italian architect Mario Cucinella as its special guest, spotlighting his pioneering work in sustainable architecture.

This dynamic initiative features a keynote presentation at Canadian Stage, where Cucinella delves into the philosophies behind some of his most celebrated projects, followed by an elegant cocktail reception. The program continues with the opening of the first Canadian exhibition dedicated to his Bologna and Milan-based firm, MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects, hosted at TMU’s Paul H. Cocker Gallery. The exhibition will include architectural models, drawings, and multimedia materials, complemented by a masterclass with Cucinella for TMU’s architecture students and faculty. In addition, the festival will host the International Premiere of Nuvola: An Open Project for the City, a documentary exploring the design of Lavazza’s innovative Turin headquarters, directed by Francesca Molteni, who will also be in attendance.

Framed by the guiding concept of Buckminster Fuller’s “Spaceship Earth,” this year’s Architettura & Design program aligns with the Expo 2025 Osaka theme—Designing Future Society for Our Lives—and shines a spotlight on Cucinella’s Italian Pavilion, conceived as a living structure that merges design, sustainability, and cultural heritage. The initiative reflects ICFF’s broader mission: to ignite dialogue around the future of our cities and the role of design in shaping a better, more sustainable world.

Alongside these events, the festival showcases over 30 premieres—including Napoli – New York by Gabriele Salvatores and Juliet and Romeo by Timothy Scott Bogart—along with daily public concerts, panel discussions, industry sessions, and culinary experiences. New programming initiatives such as Toronto Screens Toronto honour the city’s cinematic legacy, while The Dark Side returns for its third chilling edition, and Industry Days hosts celebrated filmmakers like the Manetti Bros. From music-themed films to community spotlights, ICFF 2025 offers a 25-day journey of cultural exploration and artistic innovation, solidifying its place as one of Canada’s most ambitious and inclusive festivals.

Supported by the Embassy of Italy in Canada, the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto.
