The Istituto Italiano di Cultura is pleased to invite you to the first edition of Librissimi, The Toronto Italian Book Festival, an event that will bring together books and readers of Italian origin and will take place on Saturday May 5th at Columbus Centre, with an opening reception on Friday May 4th.
Com.It.Es, the Committee of Italians Living Abroad, organized the festival with the support and participation of a several cultural and community organizations. The programming will showcase writers and book-related activities in literary forms and languages that reflect the richness of Italian Canadian writing in a variety of languages ranging from English to Italian, French and even dialects.
Within this event, Professors Barbara Turchetta and Massimo Vedovelli from Italy will present their last book “Lo spazio linguistico italiano globale: il caso Ontario” (The Linguistic Space of Global Italian: The case of Ontario) based on their recent study on the Italian language used abroad with a focus on the experience of the Italians living in Toronto and the Ontario Region. Also, the Italian author Gabriele Dadati will be present his last novel “L’ultima notte di Antonio Canova” (The last night of Antonio Canova) in which the greatest Neoclassical sculptor shares the secrets of his tormented life to his brother.
