Message from His Excellency Alessandro Cattaneo, Ambassador of Italy to Canada
It is a source of particular pride for me that THEMUSEUM in Kitchener is hosting the exhibition ‘Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius’. This area of Ontario has welcomed generations of Italians, and it is also thanks to this deeply rooted presence, built on hard work, ingenuity and sound values, that the cooperation between Italy and Canada can today unfold in its full depth, including on the scientific and technological fronts, which are fundamental drivers of growth.
Leonardo embodies, better than anyone, a mind that knows no disciplinary or geographical boundaries. Five hundred years later, Italy and Canada share his vision of an open, curious research culture capable of crossing disciplines and borders. Celebrating Leonardo in Canada means renewing the commitment of both countries to scientific and technological cooperation, in the firm belief that progress always stems from the fruitful encounter of different minds — the same spirit that the Embassy of Italy in Canada is committed to promoting and strengthening every day.
