ICFF (Italian Contemporary Film Festival ): June 13-21, 2019

The Istituto is pleased to announce the 8th edition of the Italian Contemporary Film Festival ICFF, presented by ICSavings

The Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) has grown to the largest Italian film festival outside of Italy. For eight days, ICFF showcases the best new Italian and international cinema. Screenings are supplemented with guest appearances by filmmakers, actors, authors, and other expert speakers, as well as Q&A sessions.

Known for its glamorous and exciting events, ICFF provides film lovers of all ages with a rich, surprising and diverse film program. All ICFF films are also subtitled in English as most are in Italian or other foreign languages.

Special Guest 2019

Nick Vallelonga

Nick Vallelonga won two Academy Awards and two Golden Globes for Original Screenplay and Best Picture for “Green Book”. Nick wrote and produced “Green Book” with Peter Farrelly and Brian Hayes Currie, based on the true story of Nick’s father Tony Lip.

 

Luca Barbareschi

Luca Barbareschi is an Italian actor, director, producer, television host and politician. As a young man, Barbareschi starred in Cannibal Holocaust, a controversial “found footage” film directed by Ruggero Deodato, which influenced such directors as Oliver Stone, Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth.

Nicola Piovani

Winner of the 1999 Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score for his work on Roberto Benigni’s Life is Beautiful, Nicola Piovani will grace the stage of the TIFF Bell Lightbox for an exclusive concert entitled La Musica è Pericolosa (Music is Dangerous).

Davide Cavuti

Davide Cavuti is a musician and composer of film and theater soundtracks. He has collaborated with the Oscar-winning composers Ennio Morricone and Nicola Piovani. Dott. Cavuti has directed many doucumentary films. Since 2018, Davide Cavuti acts as director of the Italian Society of Science and Engineering.

Claudio Gubitosi

It was 1971 when an 18-year old Claudio Gubitosi, a budding film lover with an indomitable entrepreneurial spirit, conceived the notion of creating a film festival specifically for kids. His mission was to help younger generations appreciate the seventh art, its subtle narrative, visual complexity, and its impact on society. The result, the Giffoni Film Festival, located near Naples, eventually grew into one of the most popular and respected youth film festivals in the world.

Marco Giudici

Marco Giudici è direttore di Rai Italia da un anno e mezzo. Milanese, laureato in filosofia, dalla fine dei ’70 è stato per vent’anni giornalista della carta stampata.

Piera Detassis

Piera Detassis is one of the most widely respected and influential people in Italian cinema today. Aside from being the Editor in Chief of CIAK, Italy’s foremost film magazine, she is also the President and Artistic Director of the Italian Academy of Cinema, which awards the David di Donatello, otherwise known as the Italian Oscars. She is rapidly changing the landscape of film in Italy and around the globe!

Ezio Greggio

Ezio Greggio has been a staple of Italian comedy for well over 30 years. His current television show, Striscia la Notizia, a scathing parody of current news and events, has been one of the most popular comedy programs since its inception, in 1988. At ICFF 2019, Greggio will present a recent winner of the Monte-Carlo festival and will discuss Italian comedy in a special edition of “In conversation with…”
