Ray Liotta narrates this compelling story about an ingenious plot devised by three Roman Catholic doctors to rescue hundreds of Jews in Nazi-occupied Rome. Exploiting Nazi fears of infectious disease, they invented Syndrome K, a deadly, highly contagious and equally fictitious disease commonly found in Jews of Roman descent. By insisting that their Jewish patients be quarantined, the doctors created an Underground Railroad so that those who were admitted to the ward could be smuggled out to churches or other safe houses. This fascinating, little-known story features interviews with some of those saved as well as the last surviving doctor.
