Presentation of “A filo doppio” by Francesco Loriggio e Vito Teti

The Istituto Italiano di Cultura is pleased to present  “A filo doppio: un’antologia di scritture calabro-canadesi” edited by Francesco Loriggio and Vito Teti.

The presentation will be held by Francesco Loriggio and Damiano Pietropaolo.

Fifteen Italian-Canadian writers of Calabrese origins are reminding us, once again, that immigration has always been one of the elements that has put history in motion and that there were moments in which Italian were the ones to leave and to arrive.

Francesco Loriggio is Italian-born but received his university education in North America, at the University of British Columbia and the University of California at Los Angeles. A past president of the Canadian Society for Italian Studies and the last director of the Research Unit on Southern European Literature and Culture (RUSELC), he is currently Professor of Italian and Comparative Literary Studies in the College of the Humanities and in the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture.

Vito Teti is Professor of Ethnology at the Faculty of Humanities of Calabria University, where he founded and directs the Center of Mediterranean Anthropology and Literature. The paths of identity construction, the reason for the melancholy and nostalgia, anthropology of abandonment and of places, the relationship between anthropology and literature, are the focus of his writing. He is the author of photographic reportage and he has made numerous ethnographic documentaries in Calabria and in Canada on behalf of Rai.
