Featuring 3 one-act plays: THE IMBECILE – THE LICENSE – SICILIAN LIMES by Luigi Pirandello (in English)
Artistic Director Frank Spezzano
Celebrating CANADA150PIRANDELLO150
Presented by The Pirandello Theatre Society
2017 marks Canada’s 150 anniversary and that of the famed Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello. Recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature (1934) he has entertained audiences with wit and humour for over a century. The three one-act plays bring themes of love, desire, compassion, and a transparent clash of ideological differences between family and friends of today’s society.
With the many characters that dwell in the fantasy of the playwright; such as MICUCCIO BONAVINO, a nervous country peasant infatuated with SINA MARNIS who is a renowned singer, or the IETTATORE who, in a court of law, demands a license to cast the Evil-Eye on those who wish him ill-fate, or LUCA who turns the table on the definition of ‘imbecile,’ Pirandello delivers a lesson of tolerance as to how one should deal with the less desirable people in our midst.
