In celebration of Natale di Roma, the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto, and Festina Lente are pleased to present the online roundtable Rome in Layers: Identity, Art, and the Making of a City.
This conversation brings together a group of international scholars to explore Rome as a city shaped not only by its monuments, but by the identities, artistic exchanges, and acts of collecting and representation that have continuously redefined it across time.
From the intellectual and social world of Tullia d’Aragona, to the vibrant artistic competition of Baroque Rome, to the role of collectors such as Vincenzo Giustiniani, and the imagined landscapes of Viviano Codazzi, the roundtable invites audiences to reconsider Rome through multiple lenses — as a lived, constructed, and continually reimagined city.
Presented by the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto and Festina Lente.
