A wondrous and mesmerizing experience where visual arts meets storytelling. Inspired by the paper cut outs of Matisse, Picasso, and Hans Christian Andersen, an artist weaves the story of the Steadfast Tin Soldier and other fantastical tales using paper images, projections, and music.

Artistic Director says: CutOuts is an absolutely unique experience that will stay with young audiences for a long time and inspire a flurry of creativity at home and in the classroom.
A teapot spews water, the blue stream fills a screen, the dancer twirls her corolla skirt above a flame, a webcam projects the audience’s faces ans shoes on the board. It is beautiful, innocent and cruel like childhood, and subtly colours the daydreams that children and adults share, right down to the final “Fin” (The End) written with falling sheets of paper.

About Teatro dei Piccoli Principi
Interweaving the languages of visual arts and music with those of the stage arts, Piccoli Principi creations stand out for their uniqueness. Free from conventions and constantly open to all the stimuli of contemporaneity, it confronts themes of different natures but that all concern the idea of “relationship”, between different cultures, different types of knowledge: theatre and science, art and childhood, art and education. Founded in 1979, Theatrale Piccoli Principi is based in Calenzano, Florence.
