CLOSED TEMPORARILY: “Art in the Library” with Carina Francioso

THE LIBRARY IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED

“Art in the Library” is the new original initiative created by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura to promote Italian-Canadian artists in Toronto. A new painting will be shown every season to delight our public with contemporary artists inspired by Italy and Italian culture.

Painting title: “Sotto lo stesso sole” (Under The Same Sun)

Oil on wood panel, 50″ x 45″

“The calm or turbulent, incessantly changing waters of the world reflect our daily lives and emotions and remind us of how we are all globally connected.”

Carina Francioso is a contemporary realist artist born in Kitchener, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a major in Honors Fine Art and a minor in Italian Language. Living in Italy over the years has helped Carina stay connected to her Italian roots. One warm summer day in Gallipoli she was mesmerized by the sun glistening across the Ionion Sea, a vision that inspired her current body of work depicting “water”. Her paintings have won numerous awards and are published in local and international art magazines, books and catalogues, including the 13th & 14th International ARC Salon Catalog, American Art Collector and Hyperrealism Magazines. Carina used her art and language skills to illustrate and translate two Italian/Canadian Poetry books (Frammenti di luce & Al di là del mare) written by Anna Ciardullo Villapiana, the latter being presented to Pope Francesco. She is forever inspired by the Italian culture that is so loved and widely accepted around the world.
