European Book Club at the IIC: “Roberto Saviano’s Gomorrah: the maze of organized crime”

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Event Date Change to May 24 at 6.30pm

A EUNIC event

The Istituto Italiano di Cultura, along with EUNIC, the network of the European cultural institutes of Toronto formed by Alliance Française, Camões, Goethe-Institut, and Istituto Italiano di Cultura, invites you to their next book club meeting.

Thursday May 24, at 6.30pm: “GOMORRAH” (it. Gomorra) by Roberto Saviano published in Italy in 2006. Film excerpts will be screened.

Franco Gallippi’s reading of the bestseller Gomorra is a journey into the complexities of a labyrinth that seems to be inescapable. Does Saviano suggest that there is a way out of the maze of organized crime? Matteo Garrone, who adapted the novel for the screen, explores that grey area where good and bad mix together, and shows that there is more to the novel than simply a detailed description of a harsh reality.

  • Organized by: Istituto Italiano di Cultura
  • In collaboration with: Alliance Française, Camões, Goethe-Institut
