La Brigantessa/Bella Donna – Scandalized Female Figures in Italian History and Culture
Female Figures Bookclub program
An exploration into powerful and misunderstood women in Italy’s history and culture. Enjoy this program with the important women in your life! We will attend a performance of the new production Bella Donna a modern re-telling of the story of Italy’s scandalized female historical figure Lucrezia Borgia. A reception and discussion with the director Anita La Selva will follow the performance. In the following week we will have a book club discussion on La Brigantessa a fictional novel by Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli, based on true events in the aftermath of Italy’s 1861 reunification. This program is in partnership with and support of the Bella Donna Artists Collective.
