The brilliance of Federico Veltri will land in Toronto in his first Canadian performance at the Columbus Centre. The great Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara, artistic director of The Etna In Scena in Zaferana Etnea and professor at the Conservatory of Palermo, will company the tenor in selections by Verdi, Puccini, and Tosti.

Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara
Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara (born July 2, 1978 in Catania, Sicily) is an Italian pianist, specializing in baroque performance under the influence of Rosalyn Tureck. He is a graduate from the Milan Conservatory, has performed as soloist at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2006 at the Sala Giuseppe Verdi in Milan,Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Palazzo del Quirinale to Rome. He played monographic programs devoted to J.S. Bach solo at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, at Notre-Dame Basilica located in Montreal, at room Glenn Gould in Toronto,North Cyprus Bellapais Festival Nicosia and in various parts of the world in Canada, Europe, Japan with orchestras including the Symphony Orchestra of Sicily, the orchestra of the Teatro Bellini in Catania and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Nouveau Monde in Montreal, the Philharmonic Bourgas Opera, the Chamber Orchestra of Ascoli Piceno,in Mexico with the Orchestra of the State Government of Mexico. He is artistic director of The Etna In Scena in Zaferana Etnea, of the International Music Atelier of Catania, University of Enna Kore and professor at the Conservatory of Palermo. He is the author of historical publications on W. A. Mozart and its relationship with freemasonry and the theory of music education in particular. He has recorded for RAI in Rome, and the Quebec National Radio. Federico Veltri began his musical studies in saxophone and oboe with Franco Rodolfo Aiello, and his vocal studies with Annalisa Sprovieri, and graduated in 2014 under the guidance of Patrizia Patelmo at the Conservatory ‘F. Torrefranca‘ in Vibo Valentia. He has taken part in Masterclass of important singers including: Cecilia Bartoli, Leo Nucci, Barbara Frittoli, Mietta Sighele and Fiorenza Cedolins with whom he continues his technical and interpretative improvement attending courses at the ‘Scuola dell’Opera Italiana Fiorenza Cedolins’. Federico has been the soloist many performances since beginning his studies. These include: the Mass in C Major, Op. 86 by Beethoven; the Mass in Si min BWV 232 by Bach; the Mass in C minor K 427/4173 by Mozart; and the Misa Buenos Aires by Palmeri, as part of the concert events of the Conservatory. In 2013, Federico won: the ‘Best Young Award’ at the International Singing Competition Riccardo Zandonai; the First Prize at the ICAMS Competition; the Second Prize at the ‘Una voce per la lirica’ Competition; and the Third Prize at the ‘Orfeo Stillo’ Competition. In June 2017, he gained a position at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Academy under the Artistic Direction of Maestro Gianni Tangucci. In November 2017, Federico took part in the Masterclass organized by the Polimnia Association in Cosenza, held by famous singer Fiorenza Cedolins. On this occasion, he won a scholarship for the preparation of La Traviata by G. Verdi. Finally, in January 2018, he was admitted with a scholarship to the Verdi Academy of the Teatro Regio in Parma, which led him to participate actively in the productions of the Verdi Festival 2018. His recent and future engagements include: the evening in memory of Luciano Pavarotti entitled Bollani/ Pavarotti/Rossini in Modena, Opera on Ice in Marostica, Verdi Off and Mezzogiorno in musica for the Verdi Festival, and his debut as Alfredo in La Traviata in Iaşi.
