Led by a talented ensemble of young actors, this inspirational interfaith story is a reminder of the importance of memory, coexistence and resolving generational frictions. When teenaged Sofia finds a wartime photo of a Jewish child hidden in an old suitcase, she enlists the help of a group of students from Rome’s Jewish community to discover the fate of this person. Her quest will have life-changing consequences as she discovers the truth about the child’s history as well as that of her own family. The film offers a refreshing look at history through the eyes of a new generation.

He may be one of the most recognizable names in modern art but we know surprisingly little about the biography of Amedeo Modigliani. One hundred years after his death, historians and curators are now keen to understand the man behind the legend. This fascinating documentary explores the myths surrounding the artist and charts the evolution of his style and influences. Retracing his life from his Sephardic-Jewish upbringing in Venice to his friends and patrons in Bohemian Paris, the film also draws on unprecedented scientific research to understand some of his artistic choices.

Director: Jacques Lœuille
Country: France
Genre: Documentary
Duration: 52 minutes
