2020 11 13 euff 2020 1

The 2020 European Union Film Festival is moving online and it is going Canada-wide!

From November 13 to 29, all of Canada will be able to enjoy the best of European cinema.

Usually held in movie theatres in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver, due to the realities of COVID-19, the EUFF arrives as a virtual online event featuring not only 27 films from 27 European Union Member States, but also filmmaker interviews and other special content for fans of contemporary European cinema.

The Canadian Film Institute in Ottawa, The Cinematheque in Vancouver, and the EU Film Festival of Toronto will organize and host the online festival, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Canada and the 27 European Union Member States.

In this online edition of the EUFF, each film will be ‘live’ online for a 48-hour period, which gives patrons plenty of time to watch the films.

All films are presented in their original languages with English, and, in some cases, French subtitles.

ABOUT THE FILM

Alessandro and Arturo have been together for over fifteen years. Despite the strong feelings they still have for each other, their relationship seems to have entered that dreaded middle-aged crisis stage as they both near the age of fifty. Into this already fraught and fragile situation bursts Alessandro’s best friend and former lover, Annamaria. She arrives unexpectedly and asks them to take care of her two kids for a few days, as she is being admitted to a hospital due to recurring headaches.

Suddenly Alessandro and Arturo have a lot more on their minds and on their agendas! With their lives already sliding in a state of flux, now this, and then what? Can they cope, just how long will this ‘parental period’ last, and what will be the fate of their dear friend, Annamaria? In the twists and turns of this new life, both Alessandro and Arturo are forced to look at things in a whole new light.
