Imago Mundi — Great and North

This sweeping exhibition, part of the global Imago Mundi project, creates a snapshot of contemporary art across the country today. Presented for the first time in Canada, it features 775 small-format works by 760 established and emerging artists and creators from across Canada, including Inuit and Indigenous artists from across North America.

Imago Mundi — Great and North views Canada through the work of artists in several disciplines: painting, sculpture, architecture, design, literature, cinema and music. Among the most prominent featured artists, writers, designers and architects there are: Margaret Atwood, Rebecca Belmore, David Blackwood, Ed Burtynsky, Robert Houle, Andrew Jones, An Te Liu, Jack Diamond, Ed Pien, Vincenzo Pietropaolo, Christopher Pratt, Mary Pratt, Moshe and Sylvia Safdie, Michael Snow and Joanne Tod.

Imago Mundi is about Art and the World without borders — a democratic, collective and global map-in-the-making of human culutres at the start of the third millenium — as envisioned by Luciano Benetton, art patron and creator of United Colors of Benetton. With a single format, 10 x 12 cm, the entire international Imago Mundi collection brings together artists from every continent: to date, more than 25,000 from over 150 countries.
