20th Edition of the Week of Italian Language in the World: Italian Between Word and Image: graffiti, illustrations, comic

Presented Under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy

On Monday, October 19, the 20th Edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World was launched at the Farnesina, headquarters of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome.

During the event, guest speakers discussed the theme of the 2020 edition “Italian Between Word and Image: graffiti, illustrations, comics”; activities pertaining to the instruction of Italian abroad were also presented together with the publishing support established by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and others in response to the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic (including the web portal newitalianbooks.it), the promotional video dedicated to the week and the principal institutional activities organized for the occasion by the network of Embassies, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes in the world.

From October 19 – 25, the diplomatic-consular network of the Italian Cultural Institutes will present events, meetups and performances in more than 110 countries to demonstrate the richness of our language.

Opens October 19

The international festival of comics, animation, cinema and games, ROMICS, in collaboration with the Cultural Institutes of Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto and Washington DC, inaugurates the digital exhibition Illustrated Stories. The evolution of languages ​​in comics on October 19, 2020.

To celebrate the 20th Edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Embassy of Italy in Canada, the Embassy of Switzerland in Canada and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto, in collaboration with Jobel Art for Earth, present an original multidisciplinary online event.

Images will be the central theme for this event which includes performances based on some of the most famous comics, image-inspred dances and live music.

The event will be presented in English and Italian.
