The Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra presents “Christmas @ Columbus Centre” on Sunday, December 15, 3:00 PM. This afternoon festive program will feature an array of Christmas themed pieces as well as a selection of Italian operatic repertoire and Viennese waltzes by Strauss. Soprano Inga Filipova-Williams and tenor Stanislas Vitort will join the orchestra under the baton of Maestro John Palmer.
On the program: Rossini -“Il Barbiere de Siviglia” Overture, Strauss Jr. – Tales of the Vienna Woods, Roses from the South waltzes, Bellini -“Il Pirata” Overture, Verdi -“Aida” Triumphal March, Mascagni – Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, Prokofiev – Troika (Sleigh Ride), Puccini – ‘Vissi d’arte, vissi d’amore’ (Tosca), ‘Che Gelida manina’ (La Boheme) , “Nessun dorma” (Turandot), Vaughan-Williams – Fantasia on Greensleeves
