Screening of Verdi’s "Stiffelio"

Screening of Verdi’s

Festival Verdi

For the series of operas from ‘Festival Verdi’, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura presents Verdi's 1850 opera“Stiffelio”.

Andrea Battistoni conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro Regio di Parma in this sweeping performance of Verdi’s rarely heard opera, led by Roberto Aronica in the title role of a Protestant minister. Yu Guanqun is his wife, Lina, who has been lured into adultery, leaving Stiffelio caught between his desire for revenge and his religion’s admonition to forgive. This Teatro Regio di Parma production also stars Roberto Frontali as Stankar, Lina’s father, Gabriele Mangione as her lover, Raffaele, and George Andguladze as Jorg.
