On September 5, 2024, the internationally acclaimed exhibition Buone Nuove/Good News | Women in Architecture made its Canadian debut. Originally launched at the MAXXI Museum in Rome in 2022, the exhibition has travelled to Stockholm, Doha, New Delhi, and Berlin. Now, hosted by the Department of Architectural Science in Toronto at Toronto Metropolitan University, Buone Nuove/Good News | Women in Architecture – from MAXXI to MET will be on display until October 10, 2024.
Curated by Pippo Ciorra, Elena Motisi and Elena Tinacci from the MAXXI Museum and by Lisa Landrum for the Canadian Section, this travelling exhibition features the works and words of dozens of Italian, Canadian, and global women architects who have changed the field of architecture and are empowering a new generation of city-builders. The exhibition offers a new and more comprehensive perspective of architecture by showing how women and women-led collectives have elevated the quality of modern and contemporary design.
Presented by the Fondazione MAXXI, the Consulate General of Italy (Toronto), the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (Toronto), Diamond Schmitt Architects, Toronto Metropolitan University Office of the Provost, and TMU’s Department of Architectural Science.
